Daniel Joseph Naehu Kahakelii, 88, of Hilo died Feb. 27 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired aircraft mechanic and U.S. Marine Corps gunnery sergeant who served in the Korean and Vietnam wars, member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Hilo Lodge No. 759, and Pu‘uwai Opio Seniors Softball League. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Friday (June 30) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Urn committal services to follow at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 Pavilion. Casual attire; no flowers. Josephine “Josie” Andaya Kahanaoi, 82, of Keaukaha died May 27 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honokaa, she was a retired nurse for Hilo Medical Center.
